An adventurous week for Definitely Dylan Live! Public transport delays stole away a few minutes from the usual full hour, and Laura and Robert are both a bit under the weather, but they say music has healing powers, so we’re turning our attention to Dylan’s live performances vs. studio versions. We discuss Dylan’s need to switch it up in his concerts, why some songs are bound to sound different live, and why the idea of an “original version” is strange concept anyway.
If you want to hear the previous episode on Dylan’s live performances, check out Episode #7.
You can find the episodes on More Blood, More Tracks, Mondo Scripto, the Never Ending Tour, and many more in the archive.
Also, you can watch the video to the Hard Rain TV Special version Idiot Wind here. These are bootleg videos, so they get taken down regularly (I’m just hoping that they get an official release one of those days!)
By the way, I’mannoyed that I failed to mentioned that this year’s winner of Crufts 2019 Best in Show has been awarded to a Papillon dog called Multi Champion Planet Waves Forever Young Daydream Believers – otherwise known as Dylan. - it would have perfectly been on topic!
As always, you can find the show on Twitter and Instagram, as well as on Facebook.
